Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)

We have a high pass rate of Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) across the firm – an achievement we are proud of. The requirement for graduates to pass their RICS APC and the key role played by the employer in achieving this is outlined in our training programme.

Support is provided by a national steering group, with a partner in charge to provide representation at the highest level. The steering group has an overall role to ensure that candidates are assisted effectively and to ensure the procedures and submissions are achieved in a timely fashion.

There are two national away-days attended by all candidates where they receive lectures and training advice from leading expert consultants and also participate in mock interviews and question-and-answer sessions.

Towards the end of the programme there is more intensive training and monitoring of submissions including the critical analysis with mock interviews at local level. The progress of each candidate is carefully monitored throughout to ensure that appropriate experience is received and the employer’s responsibility to assess competence is discharged effectively.

Non-cognate graduates will be sponsored to undertake a part-time conversion course on day-release that will enable them to take the APC.  Everyone is encouraged to continuously develop their skills and update their technical knowledge by attending a wide range of in-house and external CPD seminars. We give our graduates early responsibility and client contact, together with excellent opportunities for career progression.
