Education – Schools
We have an in-depth knowledge of the issues facing schools and local education authorities (LEAs) and we have a wide range of experience working with state and private, primary and secondary, voluntary aided BSF and academy schools. Our proven track record has ensured we have been busy of late helping head teachers, estates managers, trusts and governing bodies get to grips with funding issues, masterplanning and site development and existing building refurbishment.
The recent investment commitment in this sector is comprised of three initiatives:
Building Schools for the Future (BSF) - the largest single schools capital investment programme for over 50 years. Its aim is to rebuild or renew England’s state secondary schools estate during the lifetime of the programme which is due to continue through to 2020.
The Academies programme was introduced in March 2000; the first Academy projects were announced in September 2000 with a target of 200 Academies open or in the pipeline by 2010. In March 2007 the Government announced an increase in the target to 400.
The Primary Capital Programme commits to renewing at least half of all primary school buildings by 2022-23. The aim is to create schools that are equipped for 21st-century teaching and learning and are at the heart of communities with children's services in reach of every family.
