TOP CITY WOMEN SCOOP PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS

Today, eight of London’s top business women have won their category for the prestigious Women in the City Awards. The eight finalists will go on to compete for the overall Jaguar 2008 Woman of Achievement Award, which will be presented on Friday, 28th November at the 6th Annual Women in the City Lunch held at Plaisterers’ Hall, London.
The annual Awards recognise excellence and celebrate the achievements of senior and partner-level professionals working in the City of London, Canary Wharf, and Mayfair. Gwen Rhys, Chief Executive of Networking Culture and creator of the Women in the City Awards, said;
Despite the credit crunch London remains one of the most competitive financial marketplaces in the world. In this marketplace are many talented women who lead and inspire. Importantly, these Awards throw a spotlight on these women and the role they play in directing and shaping the future of our great city.

The Awards judging panel is chaired by Prof Susan Vinnicombe, OBE, Director of the Centre for Developing Women Business Leaders at Cranfield University School of Management. She added;
“The quality of all the applicants was extremely high and the short-listed candidates present the very best exemplars of women who excel within their chosen professions and, at the same time, champion the progress of women and make a real difference.”

Launched in 2003 Women and the City is a networking Lunch created by Gwen Rhys, Chief Executive of Networking Culture Ltd. The lunch brings together 350 senior management and partner level women who work in London’s financial districts including the City of London, Canary Wharf and Mayfair.
