Multiple Public Sector Wins for Robinson Low Francis in Scotland

6th January 2009

Robinson Low Francis’s Scottish practice has recently been appointed by six of Scotland’s public sector organisations to provide a range of construction and property-related services after winning a series of competitive tenders.

Three local authorities have chosen Robinson Low Francis to provide quantity surveying and cost consultancy services under a Framework Agreement: Aberdeeenshire Council, Glasgow City Council and The Moray Council, while the Shetland Islands Council has appointed the practice as their project managers for the new Anderson High School in Lerwick.

Robinson Low Francis’s success has not been confined to local authority projects as the practice has also been appointed by NHS Ayrshire and Arran and SPT (Strathclyde Partnership for Transport) to provide quantity surveying services under a long term Framework Agreement.

Under the Framework Agreements, Robinson Low Francis will provide expert advice and a variety of quantity surveying services on a wide range of construction projects including schools, swimming pools, libraries, railway stations, hospitals, health centres and housing schemes.

The appointments effectively give Robinson Low Francis ‘preferred supplier’ status and as a result, the opportunity to work with public sector organisations on an impressive range of construction, property, development and infrastructure projects across Scotland.

Robinson Low Francis, which has offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, has invested heavily in the development of its public sector practice, including the recruitment of specialist senior staff.  Dr Alister Coutts, formerly the Director of Property & Architectural Services with The Highland Council, was recently appointed to lead the development of Robinson Low Francis’s public sector services and this has allowed the practice to provide strategic procurement advice to a wide range of public sector organisations.

Commenting on the commissions, David Thomson, Managing Partner for Robinson Low Francis in Scotland said: “We are very pleased to have been selected to advise six prestigious public sector organisations on a wide range of property and development projects.  The tenders were very competitive and I am delighted for the team, which is ambitious and worked very hard to secure these appointments. The Framework Agreements are just one aspect of the public sector

work that we are winning, which, given the current market place, are very important as their duration is normally a minimum of three years. We are all looking forward to playing a key role shaping some of Scotland’s most exciting property and development programmes.”

Last year Robinson Low Francis marked the 100th anniversary of its Glasgow office by sponsoring a major exhibition by The Macintosh School of Architecture on the future of Glasgow in 50 years. Earlier this year the company relocated to new offices in Edinburgh’s Torpichen Street.
