Stevenage Business and Technology Centre (BTC)
12 January 2009Completion has been announced today on the £6.3m extension of the Stevenage Business and Technology Centre (BTC), a state of the art facility aimed at small businesses in the Stevenage area.
The 27,000 square foot centre, funded jointly by Stevenage Borough Council, the East of England Development Agency and Department for Communities and Local Government, will provide Stevenage small businesses with flexible and expandable office space, conference and break out rooms.
The centre also boasts a large, modern Café and meeting area with a Reception and Centre Management Suite. All rooms are catered with AC, AV and modern IT cabling allowing users to network both internally and externally.
The BTC extension took 16 months from start to finish, which included the new-build as well as the refurbishment of part of the existing building. The lead design was undertaken by Stevenage Borough Council and the project management by Robinson Low Francis, also in Stevenage.
Mark Newberry, partner at Robinson Low Francis, said: “This is a really important scheme for the Stevenage small businesses community. As well as creating a modern, purpose built environment in which new and existing businesses can flourish, aspects like knock-out panels mean those same businesses can expand without facing relocation costs. In today’s economic climate, any element that aids business flexibility presents a positive step.”
