RLF Guernsey Ltd is live

We are delighted to announce that we have established a new operation on Guernsey as part of our growth strategy. RLF Guernsey Ltd was incorporated as a local company on 24 July 2009 and is already trading successfully.

Guernsey’s special status as an island under its own jurisdiction requires a particular combination of local presence and experience, fully supported by UK mainland resource and so “RLFG”, as it is known internally, arose naturally from an existing working relationship that we have between Jason Powers of Montage, Alex Wakefield of Northgates and our Peter Scragg, who are the three directors.

Jason has been on the island for nine years, spending the first seven working for major local contractors before starting his own project management company, Montage, in 2007. Montage were accepted onto the States of Guernsey Consultants’ Framework and a strong business was established.

Alex was a director of Bucknall Austin before starting his own consultancy, Northgates, in 2001. Alex has a significant portfolio of court projects and first met Jason when both were working on the Royal Courts in Guernsey. From this, Alex has worked closed with the States’ education and treasury departments on most subsequent major schemes.

Peter and Alex have worked together over the years and then combined with Jason on particular projects on the Isle of Wight and then on Guernsey itself.

This all led to the three concluding that there was room on Guernsey for their combined offering, delivered in the “RLF way” and so RLF Guernsey Ltd was born.

The team has already supported an existing client in achieving a negotiated settlement ahead of a pending arbitration involving a swift response and action plan as the clock was already ticking. Options appraisals are now being prepared for that same client on a possible further project. RLFG has also been appointed to provide project management and quantity surveying services on a major phased domestic refurbishment project for private clients.

Along with being short-listed to tender for the project management of a proposed £35m school redevelopment (although our tender was unsuccessful, we were delighted to make the shortlist in open competition), we have also secured a position on the States’ consultants’ framework and look forward to building upon that relationship.

All in all a very exciting start to this new venture as our international growth strategy continues.
