Project Update: 70 St Mary Axe, London
70 St Mary Axe is a super prime project comprising of the construction of a commercial office building located in the heart of London. It will provide over 300,000 ft² of office space over 21 floors with three additional basement levels. Its distinctive, curvaceous form soars elegantly from the surrounding streets, with curved glass and anodised, aluminium-finned elevation wrapped over the top of the structure. Due to it’s striking curved profile the building has gained itself the nickname in the press as ‘The Can of Ham’ – see article.
RLF is providing CDM Advisor services to TIAA Henderson for this project, which will include monitoring all health and safety on-site and ensuring all responsibilities are carried out efficiently under CDM 2015.
The core work at 70 St Mary Axe is now finished and steelwork has begun on the 21 storey building.
This project received a 2017 City of London ‘Considerate Constructors Scheme Gold Award’.
