70 St Mary Axe, London in the news
70 St Mary Axe is a super prime project comprising of the construction of a commercial office building located in the heart of London. It will provide over 300,000 ft² of office space over 21 floors, with three additional basement levels. It’s distinctive, curvaceous form soars elegantly from the surrounding streets, with curved glass and anodised, aluminium-finned elevation wrapped over the top of the structure. Due to its striking curved profile the building has gained itself the nickname in the press as ‘The Can of Ham’ – see article.
RLF is providing CDM Advisor services to TIAA Henderson for this project, which will include monitoring all health and safety on-site and ensuring all responsibilities are carried out efficiently under CDM 2015.
The core work at 70 St Mary Axe is now finished and steelwork has begun on the 21-storey building.
This project received a 2017 City of London ‘Considerate Constructors Scheme Gold Award’.
