Transforming the University of Birmingham campus
It has been a busy summer for the RLF Birmingham team at the University of Birmingham. The campus development programme has continued at a pace, with some projects coming to fruition, others being on-site and others gaining momentum at the pre-construction stages.
The most significant project completed by the RLF Quantity Surveyor team this month was the new Business School extension, which has now been completed on-site. In the coming weeks, both staff and students will be able to start using the new facilities.
This development supports the continued success and expansion of the business school, and for the first time will bring together all of the business school staff into a single location, providing them with a high-quality environment.
The project has been designed to support the creation of an intellectually vibrant research community. This will enhance cross-disciplinary research by providing high-quality research space for some of the school’s key research centres and will also facilitate external engagement activities.
The new Business School extension is, however, not just about the staff as it also provides for high-quality study space within the Grade II listed University House. A new study hub has been created which provides for a ‘one-stop shop’ for student inquires together with upgraded catering facilities.
