It is a tangram, an ancient Chinese dissection puzzle consisting of a square cut into flat pieces called tans – five triangles, a smaller square, and a rhomboid. The objective of the puzzle is to combine all seven pieces, without overlapping, to form a specific shape. There are thousands of potential shapes and each individual approaches the puzzle differently.
