RLF project 70 St Mary Axe ‘The Can of Ham’ in the Press
300,000 ft² of elegant, highly efficient office space in the heart of the city cluster.
RLF is providing Client Advisor services to TIAA Henderson for 70 St Mary Axe.
70 St Mary Axe, located in the heart of the city, is set for completion in December 2018. It will provide 28,000 m² of office space over 21+ floors. The building has a striking curved profile and because of this has gained itself the nickname ‘The Can of Ham’, 70 St Mary Axe sits close to ‘The Gherkin’ (30 St Mary Axe), their tapered profiles sitting well together, shaping the skyline of the City of London.
This project received a 2017 City of London ‘Considerate Constructors Scheme Gold Award’.
As featured in Building Magazine Issue 08, Nick Moore, director of Mace, states “Construction of the building’s concrete core is complete, its steel frame reached level 22, corrugated steel floor decking is being installed on level 17 , the floors are being concreted on level 15 and the cladding has started to be installed on level 7”, “We’re ahead of the programme, but not as far ahead as I’d like us to be”.
“It is perhaps, no surprise that the project is progressing well because, even at 5pm on a cold, dark winter’s evening, under the glare of the site’s artificial lights, the clatter of activity shows no signs of abating.”
